Preserved  Fabrication

Frances and Evelyn Costume Fabrication

I was responsible for the costume fabrication and costume rigging for both characters.  I draped the initial fabrics onto the characters and then patterns were made so that when a second set of characters needed to be made the costumes would be identical.  The rigs are in both characters' skirts' and in the arms and neck of the purple dress.  The rigs are made out of twisted, 24 gauge annealed steel wires that are set into the puppets hip rigs so that the skirts move from the hips and waist.

Frances and Evelyn Hand Fabrication

I made the hand molds for both sets of hands.  The two-part molds are made of GI-1000 Silicone and, the hands are cast using tinted GI-1110 and from there are painted with silicone to showcase the sculpt and bring out specific areas. This is crucial because the film has closeups that focus on or around the hands

Fridge Build

The fridge is a set piece that was used for many of the key storytelling aspects of the film, so it was a very detailed build to make.

I started with a mock-up and then created mechanical drawings based of of the mock-up and the concept art,  and then after that the laser cut files that make up the base of the fridge were created.  The 1/4 inch MDF laser cut pieces were put on top of 2 pieces of 2x8" High Density Urethane Foam which was carved down to create the rounded shape.  This entire piece was then vacuuformed in 3/16 PETG plastic to create the rigid outer shell.

From there the inside was mocked up with the same process. The interior is made of 1/8" acrylic sheets that were laser cut to fit and then dressed with plastic to accentuate the edges.  After this the fridge was primed and painted to match the concept art and overall style of the film.

Lighting and Art Direction

Many of the sets required extremely specific lighting and art direction.  I have lit both fridge scenes and assisted my director Stephanie with others.

The Bathroom scene utilises practical lighting in the vanity lights; these were set into fixtures that were wired through the wall of the set to create a seamless edge.
